Dr. James Washburn
Dr. Washburn attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree prior to pursuing his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at Kent State University in Cleveland, Ohio.
His professional development continued through a rigorous residency at the University of Florida/Shands Jacksonville, where he gained valuable experience in trauma and limb salvage. UF Residency afforded an environment for him to build skills in managing severe trauma and complex orthopedic cases. Following UF, he sought out further challenges and opportunities to develop his skills at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas, where he undertook extensive training in elective foot and ankle surgery, refining his expertise in procedures designed to enhance patient mobility and well-being and deepened his experience in advanced surgical techniques.
In 2014, Dr. Washburn founded the Washburn Foot & Ankle Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. From its inception, the center was committed to delivering exceptional foot and ankle care. Over the course of more than a decade, the practice built a strong reputation for excellence, earning a prestigious ranking as one of the top three podiatrists in Little Rock.
In 2024, Washburn Foot & Ankle Center embarked on a new chapter by relocating to Saint Petersburg, Florida. In 2025, we opened a second location in Bradenton, Florida. We are enthusiastic about extending our tradition of high-quality, compassionate care to the Saint Petersburg and Bradenton communities. Our team remains dedicated to providing the same level of integrity, expertise, and personalized attention that our previous patients have come to know and trust.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Washburn values his family life deeply. He and his wife cherish time spent with their two sons, and the family spends time daily fishing and everything involving baseball as well as traveling. This balance between a demanding career and a vibrant family life reflects Dr. Washburn’s holistic approach to both his personal and professional endeavors.
